What Shepherd Mountain is like

Shepherd Mountain climbs a Hill Country slope south of RM 2222 and west of Loop 360, with Lake Austin close by. It holds several hundred homes, built between 1989 and 2015, on lots from about a quarter acre to more than four acres. Hillside homes are tall on the downhill side. A house that looks like two stories from the street can be three from the back, with glass on every level. Water fed poles reach up to three stories from the ground, so we do not need to set ladders on a slope, which is where ladder work gets risky. Sprinklers on sloped lawns run hard water onto the lower panes, and wind brings dust uphill. Cedar pollen peaks December to February, then live oak pollen in March and April.
