How Rough Hollow is laid out

Rough Hollow is a master planned community with 21 to 22 sections and several thousand lots at build out, though the exact count is not published. It runs along about three miles of Lake Travis shoreline, and the main road through it is Highlands Blvd. Most of the amenities sit at two points: Highland Village, the hub with the lazy river, and the Rough Hollow Yacht Club and marina, which has 294 or more slips. Homes are mostly stucco and stone, in a Mediterranean or Hill Country modern style, and the community is still being built.

The sections fall into rough groups. The lakefront group is The Peninsula, The Point, Waters Edge and Lakeside. The hilltop group is The Bluffs, Vista Ridge, West Rim, East Rim, The Overlook and The Summit. Canyon Pass, Highland Terrace, Cypress Ridge and the rest sit in between, and the townhome and villa pockets are their own thing.

Lakefront and hilltop glass are different jobs

On the shoreline the problem is spray and sun. Lake water is hard, sprinklers add more, and west facing glass over the water shows every streak after about three in the afternoon. Left alone, those white spots can etch into the glass. Pure water at near 0 TDS dries without leaving anything behind, and a hard water treatment handles older spotting.

Up on the ridges the glass is bigger and taller. Hilltop homes tend to have large view windows, second floor sliders and three story walls of glass facing the lake. Our water fed poles reach up to three stories from the ground, so no ladders touch the house. Wind carries limestone dust and construction dust up there too, since new lots are still opening.
